1. Evolving
Go to a Pokedex site, check a Pokedex guide book, or use your own knowledge from the games to find out how your Pokemon evolves. Serebii.net or Smogon.com are my favorites.
If it requires a special item, check the shops. If the pokemon needs to evolve in a certain place, just bring them to one of the designated substitute areas.
If a Pokemon needs happiness, then make it happy through your game. When you think it's happy enough to evolve, then PM an admin or a mod with a short summary of how the Pokemon has been treated. They will then look over your Pokemon's level, personality, and decide if it can evolve.
2. Leveling Up
Pokemon will not gain experience in the numbered sense, but will simply level up as determined by the following chart. Only staffers can give out the final verdict on levels gained!
If the Pokemon you fight is a:
*You will never “level down” (gain a negative level), this is used to determine how many levels you MIGHT gain.
So if you have a Level 10 Gligar fighting a Level 15 Lapras and win, you would gain 2 levels for it being a higher opponent, PLUS 2 more levels for being four Levels ahead of you, PLUS 3 more Levels for having type disadvantages: Ground vs Ice, Flying vs Ice, Gound vs Water. For a total of 7 levels gained in one fight. Not bad, huh?
However, if you have a Level 50 Spiritomb fighting a Level 49 Raticate, you would gain no levels as the Normal type immunity takes you to Zero levels gained (one Level minus a possible one level gained).
Type immunities precede dual type weaknesses. So a Spiritomb vs a Machoke would gain no type advantage levels even though it is part Dark, because its Ghost typing makes it immune to the Fighting type. However, if the Machoke used Foresight to rob Spiritomb of its immunity, then it would gain a bonus level.
If you are fighting an opponent that is more than five levels below you, you will not gain any levels, even if the type disadvantages would give you some. This may not apply in a Player vs Player battle.
Please ask if you are unsure about anything.
