1. If you are posting something long, it is recommended that you copy it onto a word document or notepad. Just in case something happens or the posting gets interrupted, you won’t have to write it over again.
2. When replying to a post be sure to read it carefully and entirely! Be careful you don’t miss any details, especially in a battle.
3. When posting, be descriptive. The better you describe what your character is doing, the easier it is to reply and for the replier to picture what it is going on. I know this isn't always possible so don't think that each post has to be novel length. However, continuous one liner posts are not recommended.
4. You can “block” attacks to lessen the damage. So, for example, an opponent fires a Hyper Beam at you and you have used up all of your allowed dodges, so instead you fire a Solar Beam at it, causing an explosion that damages both Pokemon, yet at somewhat less damage. Or maybe something more simple, like using Rapid spin to deflect a projectile attack. Just remember that if you have no dodges left, you MUST take some damage. The more descriptive you are, the better the results.
5. Don’t be restricted by ‘conventional’ means. Pokemon battles can be one on one, three on three, six on one, whatever. You can do virtually anything during your story, the rate of success depends on your characters skills and abilities. If you are unsure if what you want to do might be considered unfair, feel free to pm a staff member, post in the help section, or discuss it with th person you are role playing with.
6. Try and find an “RP Buddy”. An RP Buddy is another player to accompany your character on their adventure. This will usually result in a more interesting experience as not all staff members will have the time to make NPC posts particularly descriptive and in depth.
7. You don't have to take the gym challenge. You can make up your own quest if you want!
8. You will notice I have made a sticky thread in each Pokemon Center. Use them if you just want to heal your Pokemon, but aren't going to have any other posting. They are there for a quick heal, that's all. If you are going to do anything more than say you got healed, make a Thread.
9. Consider making a link to your characters' pages in your signature. It makes it much easier to find, especialy for the staff.
10. Keep readablilty in mind when posting. Using colored text is fun and all, but Hot Pink text on a Yellow Background is not appealing to the eyes. Small text can also be a pain in large amounts.
Now just think if that was in Hot Pink on a Yellow Background.
11. Generally accepted terms of speech:
Regular Type:
This is used to tell what is going on. Used when describing the scene, describing action, basically any narrative. CAPS and BOLD are usually used to give emphasis on something.
"Quoted Type"
Used for audible spoken words. If it's in quotes, everyone can hear it. Keep in mind that if you forget the quotes some players will act as thought they can't hear what you said, and if you put in extra quotes, like when describing action, they will assume that you are announcing that you walked away instead of actually walkikng. Smaller quoted type is often meant to be a whisper or side comment.
Italicized Type:
This is often used to denote a character's personal thougths. Other characters cannot hear this (since mind reading is not allowed) and it is often used as a useful story element.
{Curled Braces} Type:
Generally accepted as spoken language in a foriegn tounge. Used when Pokemon are communicating to each other or if you have a character that speaks a random language (like the Piscodemons).
[Braces] Type:
I don't know if these have an official use, but I use them in text as an often sarcastic, side narrator note. They are not read as spoken by the character, but more like a writter's comment amidst whatever's going on.
Colored Text:
Colored text is usually down to personal preference. I sometimes use them when making Pokemon talk and choose a color that is the same as their typing, just to make it stand out more.

Beware of the dreaded "Wall of Text" which is when you type a large amount of words, but don't space anything out and it ends up looking like this.not very pleasant is it?not too may people will take the time to read something like this especially if there is a lot of stuff to read and it can be very annoying in roleplay when characters are trying to interact with you they also have a tendency to "forget" to put in punctuation making it even more difficult to decipher and they also go nuts with the ands ors and buts and it turns into a gialnt runon scentence which nobody can figure out and ive seen people who like to center the text like this and it kinda makes it harder for me to read and then they color it and make it real tiny like this and i get sucha headache i dont even bother reading it and then they use all their fancy abbreviations which i dont know because it drives be nuts but they are like u and r and duigfcvngyusdbfcdkjh or something i would make it last longer but i kinda ran out of stuff to say and the amount of gramatical errors is just something my brain cant really deal with.
