What do you think about the current leveling rule?

Of course at the same time the more type DISadvantages against you, the more levels you will gain. I intend to keep this part for certain.

I was thinking about this a bit lately and thought that Maybe not everyone would want to spend a lot of time training. Of course, at the same time I don't want it to be too easy. It is a game, and games require the player to put in hours of playtime. And there's always the training room.

Also, what are your thoughts on Rare Candies. Right now, they are super expensive (as a novelty), but would you prefer it I make them affordable? If so, please suggest a price.

Although it is a great concept, i think that the 'advantages' and 'disadvantages' changing the level outcome should be dropped or changed. I think players should gain levels only affected by level differences.

Sorry, i can't really explain my reasons well. Basically, its just giving me a bit of a 'i'm not so sure' vibe...

Honestly theres so much complexity to the game already I don't think we need anymore. Course this really affects the staffers more than us members because we won't be doing the math to distribute levels every single tiny little battle. I think it's unnecessarily time consuming...But whatever floats you staffers boats. XD

I think they are a tad too expensive right now. I'd say a 1000 gold for a candy is better since it is hugely expensive but at the same time affordable for someone who doesn't want to train their pokemon but rather use candies instead. Course I'd lean more to lowering it further but I don't think you'd want that yet...>.> You might later. Never know.

If you mean for the HP, I like it cuz in ensures different and fair HP levels. That's one of the things I didn't like about that other RP forums. By starting with the base, some Pokemon have a giagantic unfair advantage. Like my fight of Dratini agains Lapras. I was a higher level, but the Lapras still had almost 100 more hp than me. But my way, the big hp mons will still get lotsa hp, but not on lv 1.

My plans for the leveling though currently stand at getting rid of the negative level part. But you will still get level bonuses for type disadvantages.

As for the Rare Candies, the ones in the "Exclusive Shop" are supposed to be crazy expensive. That one's like a joke shop. But I was hesitant to make them for sale for real because of those who would use them a lot. But I suppose I have no choice really. So is 1000 an agreeable price?

Well yeah the hp is complex that's one thing then the different races, then the weapons system...Then theirs the rules that'll always be updating till the end of time. XD It's just alot to keep track of. But once again this is something only the staff will have to deal with in distributing levels. As such it doesn't seem fair that anyone would listen to my say in the matter. >.> Or any of us members opinion as we're not the ones handling this math to give out levels thing. Just seems something you FC and that Ed guy should decide between yourselves as you'll be the ones doing all the work with this. ^^

Well yeah their more expensive at the other pokemon rpg in the exclusive shop. But in the BIG pokemart area they're half the price. ^^ 1000 gemstones seem fair. 'Course if you look at the other forum as an example of whats probably going to happen with rare candies...most of the staff end up using it and not the members as you guys won't have to bother another staffer with your threads. XD It might be something you three might want to decide yourselves. And that's my opinion on the matter.

Though I do hope that someday the members would be able to figure out their own HP stats...

Seriously, I'll tutor you on it! The base idea is 50 HP plus 2 on every level up. Then there are a few extras on evolving and 10th levels.

Maybe I'll use the leveling rules as more of a suggestive guide...

I seemed to understand it until i met your algebraic form. It did summarise a few more things, but other things just confused me. I think the leveling should apply where its like:

+2 per levelup
+10 Every _0 levelup
+20 Every evolution

I think that if you ask an average player to go back and forth to find 10% of different pokemon's base Hp, that they will likely get bored/confused easily.

No. I have the links. It takes no time at all to look up this information. Plus, the site I came from, it was the player's responsibility to look up the base hp. I will gladly help with the math, but I expect the player to not be 100% helpless here.

The thing is though that some members might not have the time or patience to go looking all over Serebii, or doing maths. Some people can't do maths very well, and if this site sees tons of members 1 day then us staff will be having to dash back and forward with numbers before we can get to posting.

If your positivily not going to rid of the maths, i sudgest making it somewhat easier to understand.

*raises hands* I'm a member who cants do the maths! I LOVE FC's leveling system SO much more! Because yes if you just add ten more members here who are barely able to do it as I am you and all the staffers are going to burnt out fast. And if it's a hassle to play the game then no one will be willing to play it. As it's just too much work and not enough play.

And from personal experience with huge sites and clueless members...people are not going to be reading those lists to begin with. You'll be explaining it hundreds upon thousands of times. You could add a GIANT banner explaining it on every board and they still won't read it! Your going to want to strangle every single new member if you keep it this way and this site does in fact grow huge from answering that single question alone.

I can consider it, but I like the current way because it will give each pokemon a different hp amount by the time they hit lv 100 and I like that concept.

I do not mind helping with the math, and I will simply continue to give people the links if they really are going to be THAT lazy. Considering that they are on a text RP, I can't really imagine that they would be. RPing takes work.

I will even calculate it for them, but their only requirement would be getting the base hp. No offense, but if they can't even do that one thing on their own, they don't deserve help.

They are. And most rp sites aren't like a pokemon site. Theres no math or levels or anything on...well all the other types of text based rpgs sites I've been on. So most role players aren't uses to a system like that in the first place unless we're getting people from pokemon sites...in which case they HAVE a pokemon site already and are less likely to join here. I can't think of a different type of rpg that had math mixed in... :/ I'm sure there are but I can't think of em.

Rping shouldn't take any work. Or very little such as find the base hp and adding something tiny. But for the most part it should just be fun. (course if your staff it's alot more work. XD But that's the curse of being a staffer. And staff work isn't usually apart of the actual game anyway.)
